27 May 2025, Racenews

The debut win of Paltrow Miss at New Plymouth at the weekend provided further evidence of the exciting future ahead for Champion Miler and dual Royal Ascot hero Circus Maximus.
A first crop daughter of Circus Maximus, Paltrow Miss had signaled her ability with a dominant trials victory prior to her debut and carried that form through to raceday where she cruised to the winning post three lengths ahead of her opposition for local trainer Robbie Patterson.
Circus Maximus has had just twelve runners to date from a first crop of 107 foals and with three Autumn winners in quick succession including stakes winner Towering Vision, Australian Listed runnerup and dual winner Ha’penny Hatch and Listed fourth Rufus, the progress and courage displayed by his progeny certainly augurs well for their future.

Further promising runners for Circus Maximus include Engine of War, sold to Australian interests and placed at his only start and Marcantonio placed in Australia.
Circus Maximus indicated his enormous level of talent as a two-year-old when Gr.1 performed in the Doncaster Futurity Trophy before being put aside ahead of his three-year-old career.
At three, Circus Maximus showed his class at Royal Ascot when beating triple Group One winner Too Darn Hot in the stallion making Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes over a mile.
Circus Maximus progressed to win the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp in Paris before returning to Royal Ascot as a four-year-old to win the Gr.1 Queen Anne Stakes over a mile.
With his progeny following in the footsteps of their illustrious sire and confirming their progression as they mature and develop, excitement builds toward their upcoming three-year-old season.
The beautifully bred and conformed Circus Maximus stands at Windsor Park Stud for a 2025 fee of $17,500+gst.
