Ripper Of A Dream justifies short odds
Rip Van Winkle gelding, Ripper of a dream went on to win well at Matamata under the urgings of Jonathan Riddell to break maiden ranks. The Baker/ Forsman trained runner started at odds of $3.50 and was well supported throughout betting. He was able to get a good sit behind the speed and when asked was able to pick up and edge clear to win by a margin of a long neck.
Bred by Mrs A R & J A Poole & Windsor Park Stud Ltd, and sold through the Ready To Run Sale for $50,000 through the Windsor Park Stud draft to Clarke Bloodstock, the colt is raced by A & J Cameron, B A Barber, J C MacDonald & G R Williamson.
The win highlights the loss to the industry that Rip Van Winkle was, the ill fated sire we lost earlier in the year is of course the sire of Filly of the year Jennifer Eccles and last seasons top rated horse Te Akau Shark, the later whom was announced retired from racing earlier in the week.
