Paddington colt sell for NZD$827,000 to Godolphin

a Paddington’s first crop has made an immediate impact in the Northern Hemisphere, with a colt by the Group 1-winning son of Siyouni selling to Godolphin for 350,000 guineas (approximately NZ$827,000) at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. The colt was sold to powerhouse racing group in Godolphin, and he will race in the royal blue silks.

The result adds to an encouraging series of Northern Hemisphere sales performances by Paddington’s first yearlings and underlines the early commercial appeal of his progeny.

A €420,000 yearling himself, Paddington was trained by Aidan O’Brien, Paddington won four Group 1 races in just 68 days: the Irish 2000 Guineas, St James’s Palace Stakes, Eclipse Stakes and Sussex Stakes. Those performances established him as the champion three-year-old miler. Now, his first crop is beginning to make its mark in the sales ring.

At Tattersalls alone, four Paddington yearlings sold for an average of NZ$427,000, reinforcing the strong demand for his first crop.

Attention will soon turn to the Southern Hemisphere, where Paddington’s first crop will be offered by leading sales companies across Australasia.

“It’s fantastic to see Paddington’s first crop producing such strong results in the Northern Hemisphere, with the 350,000-guinea colt at Tattersalls Book 2. We’re looking forward to presenting his first Southern Hemisphere crop this sales season. He has a superstar profile and is leaving outstanding types. We are really excited about what Paddington offers breeders and buyers here,” commented Windsor Park Stud studmaster Rodney Schick.

There is a tremendous buzz in the breeding industry around stallions such as Paddington and his barnmate Auguste Rodin. Between them, they won nine Gr.1 races during their juvenile and classic years, giving New Zealand breeders access to elite racehorses and elite genetics.

His first New Zealand crop are now yearlings and have been warmly received by breeders, vendors and bloodstock representatives, with strong representation expected in Australasia’s leading sales.

Already at the 2026 New Zealand Bloodstock Weanling Sale, Bob Peters and Byerley Bloodstock of Western Australia secured the PADDINGTON colt out of Minnaleo for $190,000.
