Outstanding 6-Time Gr.1 Champion Auguste Rodin to stand at Windsor Park
3 April, 2025

Auguste Rodin one of the world's finest racehorses of his generation, a 6-time Group One winner at ages 2, 3 and 4, has been announced to stand at Windsor Park Stud, Cambridge this Spring.
The Champion 3YO’s spectacular CV includes victories in both the English Derby and Irish Derby to go with triumphs at Weight-For-Age against the older horses in the Irish Champion Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Turf at that age.
Auguste Rodin’s English Derby win was also historic as he recorded the fastest final two furlongs in the modern era of the blue riband, surpassing Galileo, who ran the second-fastest finishing time.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the Ballydoyle superstar earned TDN Rising Star status at 2 with a juvenile win at Naas over 7f followed by victory in the Gr.2 Champions Juvenile at Leopardstown and culminating with success in the Gr.1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster over 1m.
Following his record-breaking classic season Auguste Rodin cemented his physical and mental soundness at 4 when adding the Gr.1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot to his impressive resume.
This victory provided the Champion with his 8th win and prizemoney earnings in excess of NZ$11 million over distances from 7f to 12f.

“We are privileged to welcome a racehorse of Auguste Rodin's calibre to our stallion roster,” commented Windsor Park principal Rodney Schick.
“His race performance has a remarkable similarity to that of High Chaparral who we stood here at Windsor Park and who enjoyed global success and international renown through his own success and that of his sons, grandsons and daughters at stud.
“We extend our thanks to Coolmore for their continued strong endorsement and support of both Windsor Park and the New Zealand breeding industry, just as they did last season shuttling Paddington here.
“Like High Chaparral, Auguste Rodin has loads of quality and we are so excited to be able to offer him to breeders,” said Schick.
Auguste Rodin’s career, combining six Gr.1 wins from 1m to 12f, mirrors that of High Chaparral.
Both horses share victories in the Gr.1 Futurity Trophy at 2, the English and Irish Derbies, Irish Champion Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Turf with the key difference being Auguste Rodin’s success at Royal Ascot in the Gr.1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at 4.

“Auguste Rodin is an exceptional racehorse and stallion prospect with the blend of class, speed and pedigree that only the very best possess”, commented Coolmore’s MV Magnier.
“He is a very special horse for us at Coolmore and I truly believe he ranks up there with the best racehorses and sires that we have stood here before him.
“We’re delighted he is going to shuttle to Windsor Park Stud to enhance his future legacy in the Southern Hemisphere”.
Reflecting on Auguste Rodin’s remarkable achievements, trainer Aidan O’Brien had this to say:
“He was always very highly rated from the time he was a foal at Coolmore and when Ryan (Moore) first rode him as an early 2YO he said then he was a very special horse.
“He connects two of the most powerful breeding lines in the world and has been a pleasure to train.
“Physically he fills the eye so well as he has that extra quality and movement. He’s very well balanced and very well proportioned and blessed with a big stride which is usually the sign of a very good horse”.
Jockey Ryan Moore was also full of praise for Auguste Rodin.
“He’s been an unbelievable horse for us. We have always thought the world of him. He has everything you’d want in a horse. He has so much pace winning over 7 furlongs at 2 and was able to stretch that out to a mile and a half. Horses like him are so hard to find. An incredible horse.”
Crafted from the finest global genetics Auguste Rodin hails from the final crop of Japanese Triple Crown winner and 11-time Champion Sire Deep Impact, a son of the legendary racehorse and sire Sunday Silence to whom Auguste Rodin bears a striking physical resemblance.
Auguste Rodin boasts six multiple-champion sires in his first three generations, directly descending from three standout race mares—all Gr.1 performers at less than a mile.
He is the first foal from Champion triple Gr.1 winner Rhododendron, one of the premier daughters of immortal sire and broodmare sire Galileo and a sister to seven-time Gr.1 winning champion Magical.
Both Champion sisters are out of Pivotal’s triple Gr.1 and 1,000 Guineas winner Halfway To Heaven while his brilliantly fast third dam Cassandra Go won the time-honoured King’s Stand Stakes over 5f at Royal Ascot.
Confirming the powerful genetic heritage of Auguste Rodin, the blend of Deep Impact with Galileo blood has given rise to an eyewatering 17% Group winners to runners.

Auguste Rodin takes his place on Windsor Park’s 2025 stallion roster with fellow Coolmore sires PADDINGTON and CIRCUS MAXIMUS and alongside resident leading stallion SHAMEXPRESS, sire of current world-leading Champion Sprinter KA YING RISING.
Auguste Rodin will stand in 2025 at an introductory fee of $30,000+gst.
