Jasd draws attention to Lot 35

Lot 355 in Book 1 at Karaka next week is sure to attract considerable interest following the impressive winning performance at Trentham yesterday of her half-brother, ‘boom’ three-year-old Jasd.

Jasd is unbeaten in both his raceday starts and after maintaining his perfect record trainer Tony Pike is considering a start in the Gr.1 New Zealand Derby in March.

“He’s a very big horse with a good action and he’s bred to stay,” trainer Tony Pike said. “We’ll probably step him up to a mile next and then maybe one of the later Guineas races ahead of the Derby.”

Jasd is closely related to co-Champion 3YO and Gr.1 AJC Derby winner Innocent King and was purchased by Ginger and Bryce Tankard’s Waikato Bloodstock company for $240,000 at the 2016 NZ Bloodstock Ready To Run sale.

Adding further appeal to Lot 355 at Karaka is that she is a daughter of the highly commercial young sire I Am Invincible, making the filly a three-quarter-blood sister to this seasons Melbourne Gr.1 performer Invincible Star.

The filly is part of Windsor Park Stud’s 2018 yearling sales consignment and stud owner Rodney Schick is certain she will prove a major drawcard at Karaka.

“Physically our I Am Invincible filly has the ingredients to be a star”, said Schick. “She has a deep pedigree page that is being further enhanced by her mother’s first foal Jasd and her sire is one of the ‘hottest’ young proven sires in Australia”.

Lot 355 is one of three yearlings, and the only filly, by I Am Invincible being offered at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sales Series which is due to commence next Sunday, January 28th at Karaka.
