Australia Gets First Look at Rip's Subpoenaed

In late April, Breeding&Racing's Daily News reported on an eye-catching debut winner for trainer Tony Pike at Te Rapa in New Zealand. Named Subpoena, the 2YO filly rattled home over 1200m with giant strides to run down her more fancied rivals.
Like Te Akau Shark, Naantali, Bizzwinkle, Let Her Rip, Sleeping Beauty, Kingsguard, Seraphim etc, she is a daughter of underrated sire and Champion European Miler Rip Van Winkle (Galileo), who to date has sired 29 individual stakes winners.
Sold to clients of the powerful Chris Waller stable and with a name change to Subpoeaned, the now 3YO trialled at Rosehill over 900m two weeks ago, leaving a big impression with her fast closing second placing although never spending a penny under a very cold ride from her raceday jockey James McDonald.
Subpoenaed has her first Australian start today at Canterbury and, despite again racing over 1200m, she's odds-on to deliver the promise she showed across the Tasman and seems likely to furnish into a lovely staying prospect.
