A great season keeps on rolling for Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) whose smart open class daughter Sleeping Beauty looked another black type winner in waiting for her sire when scoring an easy win in the $30,000 Aongatete Coolstores Limited Premier at Tauranga on Saturday.

Now the winner of 6 races from 13 starts, Sleeping Beauty featured among numerous winners for Rip Van Winkle who also scored an Australian treble beginning with the hugely talented filly Nantaali at Geelong on Friday and following up with Saturday winners Divine Jewel and Grazie Mille Bella.

In New Zealand Elle Eye Are was impressive winning her third race from her last four starts at Hawera on Friday while Rip Van Winkle’s 2YO son Ripnroll was successful in the Jadran Basket Ball Team 1000 at Te Aroha on Sunday.

Rip Van Winkle has sired 22 stakes winners to date and this season his tally of 64 individual winners includes Australian Group winner Kingsguard, stakes winners Seraphim and Pendleton, stakes performers Mrs Gardenia and Bizzwinkle as well as recent Australian metropolitan winners Only Tiger (Sydney), Mazzuro (Melbourne), Bastia (Sydney) and Chatelard (Sydney).

A European Champion Miler, Rip Van Winkle was Timeform rated 134, the same rating as his incomparable sire Galileo.

Among Galileo’s 273 stakes winning progeny (179 Group winners) only the mighty Frankel was higher rated than triple Gr.1 winner Rip Van Winkle who stands at Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge, New Zealand.
