Caulfield Cup winners unite

No more appropriate mating could have transpired in the week of this year’s Caulfield Cup than that of dual Horse Of The Year and last year’s Caulfield Cup hero Mongolian Khan with champion racemare Ethereal, herself a previous winner of the famous Group One race.

Mongolian Khan, who was also the Champion 3YO of his year, was the chosen consort for Ethereal, Sir Peter Vela’s champion racemare who followed up her Caulfield Cup victory with success in the Melbourne Cup.

Mongolian Khan is enjoying great support in his first season at stud from both New Zealand and Australian breeders.

“Across the board support for Mongolian Khan hasn’t surprised us given the quality of his racetrack performances and the fact that he is a super looking stallion”, commented Windsor Park Stud general manager Steve Till.

“He is thriving in his new role and proving to be as successful in the serving ring as he was on the racetrack.

“He already has a number of the 150 mares visiting him tested in foal and he will serve many highly credentialed mares in his first season”, Till concluded.

The Duchess of Bedford’s recently retired stakes winning racemare Tavy is another to visit Mongolian Khan while College Girl, a sister to Saturday’s Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Yankee Rose was recently tested in foal to him.
