Juddmonte Charm Spirit filly impresses

Fulminate, a Juddmonte Farm-bred and owned Charm Spirit filly made an ultra-impressive winning debut at Fairyhouse in Ireland overnight to become her hot young sire’s 10th individual winner for the season.

With jockey Colin Keane negotiating an interrupted passage from back in the field, Fulminate delivered an explosive turn of foot on the firm going to come through the field on the rails and deliver a telling blow to beat the Aidan O’Brien-trained Coral Beach by half a length.

"That's lovely”, commented her leading trainer Ger Lyons.

“I thought it was a cracking ride as she missed the break through greenness from a bad draw.

"Colin felt they went quick and she had to be brave to do what she's done.

"All that I can think is that you can't beat pedigree. Good horses are ready to perform like that and I think there is plenty of improvement going forward.

"With those colours you'll keep aiming high. It's all about black-type with these pedigrees”, said Lyons.

Fulminate is out of Sadler’s Wells’ Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Quiff and is inbred to the epoch-making sire through Charm Spirit’s dam L’Enjoleuse, a daughter of Sadler’s Wells great sire-son Montjeu.

Charm Spirit is currently quarantining in New Zealand before his arrival at Windsor Park Stud where he will commence his fourth successive southern hemisphere breeding season.
