Windsor Park Stud stallion Shamexpress is on a roll, with two-year-old filly Embrace Me becoming the fifth winner from the stallion’s first crop when dominating her rivals over 1115m at Werribee on Friday.

Fittingly prepared by Danny O’Brien, the man who put the polish on her Group One-winning sire, Embrace Me won by two lengths in the hands of James Winks and looks a progressive filly.“I thought her run at Flemington was good and post that race we put the blinkers on her in a jump-out and she really appreciated it and got a bit of confidence out of it,” O’Brien said.

“When she landed on the rail today she was always going to be hard to run down.

“She’s a filly that Mark Sowerby bought for us at the Melbourne Sale last year. Obviously she’s by Shamexpress, who is a horse we trained to win the Newmarket and that’s our first winner by him, so it’s a good day all round.

“We might give her one more run and then put her away to give her a chance to be later in the spring.”

Shamexpress has had just the 12 runners to date, netting five wins and seven placings. The stallion also tasted success on Thursday when Qiji Express won impressively for Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman.

A son of O’Reilly and the Volksraad mare Volkrose, Shamexpress has 65 foals in his first crop.
