Apart from back-to-back Horse Of The Year Mongolian Khan, no racehorse in history has ever won both the three-year-old Gr.1 Australian and Gr.1 New Zealand Derby classics together with the Gr.1 Caulfield Cup.

The ultimate aspiration for most three-year-old racehorses is classic success and on Saturday Mongolian Khan’s internationally successful sire Holy Roman Emperor again achieved that lofty ambition as a sire when his 3YO son Romanised proved too good for his rivals in the Gr.1 Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh.

While Romanised was slowly into stride, he managed to conjure a powerful finish from the rear to gather in his classic contemporaries in the final furlong and go on to win convincingly by 2 ¼ lengths.

The success of Romanised provided his sire Holy Roman Emperor with his 73^rd individual stakes winner and second European classic winner following that of his daughter Homecoming Queen in The One Thousand Guineas at Newmarket in England.

Underlining his international prowess as a sire, Holy Roman Emperor has been responsible for Gr.1 winning racehorses in England, France, Ireland, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Brazil.

Champion galloper Mongolian Khan is Holy Roman Emperor’s best performed son at stud and the beautifully conformed triple Gr.1 winner will have his first crop sell as yearlings next year.
