Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) filly Alpha Centauri looked a star on the rise following her success in yesterday’s Gr.1 Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh.
The three-year-old filly came from mid division to draw clear of her classic rivals and win by one and a quarter lengths in the 1600m event.
Alpha Centauri will now attempt further Group One glory in the Gr.1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot next month.
Owned by the Niarchos family and trained for them by Jessica Harrington, Alpha Centauri is the third classic winner in her family in four generations being a granddaughter of the Niarchos owned Gr.1 Prix De Diane winner East Of The Moon, a daughter of their champion galloper Miesque.
Former Windsor Park shuttle sire Mastercraftsman is in rare form having sired 12 stakes winners this year alone from a career total of 49 black type winners altogether.
