Rip Van Winkle filly sells for $1.4 million
06 Dec 2017 | By Racenews

Group winning racemare  I Am Beautiful, a daughter of Rip Van Winkle and in foal to Invincible Spirit’s champion son Kingman, sold for $1.43 million at the Tattersall’s December Mare Sale at Newmarket in England last night.

Purchased by Pat O'Kelly's Kilcarn Stud, the granddaughter of champion racemare Miesque (Nureyev) won the Gr.3 Balanchine Stakes for Aidan O'Brien and has two foals on the ground - a yearling colt by Dansili that sold for approximately $700,000 to Godolphin in October and a colt by War Front.

Few mares today boast such a rich pedigree as I Am Beautiful is a half-sister to seven winners including champion 2YO and multiple Gr.1 winner Rumplestiltskin (Danehill), the dam of Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Tapestry (Galileo).

As well, I Am Beautiful is a half sister to the dam of Japanese Group 1 winner Real Steel (Deep Impact).

Her second dam Miesque was a brilliant, classic winning miler of ten Group One races who has exerted a tremendous influence on the breed as the dam of multiple Gr.1 winner and leading sire Kingmambo among others.
