Rockabyebaby, a four-year-old daughter of Rip Van Winkle (Galileo), continued her march through the grades with an impressive display against open class horses over 1400m at Ruakaka today.
Trained by the Logan/Gibbs partnership for her breeders Whakanui Stud Ltd., Rockabyebaby was winning her third race in a row and fourth overall from eight starts.
The exciting prospect continues the great run being enjoyed by Rip Van Winkle who has sired a nonstop flow of eight individual winners, including stakes performers Kingsguard and Euro Angel, since the new racing season began a little over a month ago.
Rockabyebaby is the second foal of the Fastnet Rock (Danehill) broodmare Rockadubai and is further proof of the great affinity Rip Van Winkle has with the blood of Danehill and his sire Danzig.
Group race winners bred on this successful formula include first-crop daughters Euro Angel, Lasarla, Let Her Rip and Magic Dancer while Rip Van Winkle’s Gr.1 winning 2YO colt Dick Whittington is also bred on this potent cross.
