New stakes winner for Rip

Three-year-old French colt Rip became the latest stakes winner for Rip Van Winkle when successful in the Saint-Cloud Prix de Saint-Patrick over 1600m in Paris at the weekend.

The talented colt has now won three of his last four starts with his latest success headlining an excellent weekend for Rip Van Winkle whose sons Kingsguard and Vanell were successful in Australia.

The Team Hawkes-trained Kingsguard was winning his third race in Sydney this season while highly regarded 3YO Vanell won at Newcastle for trainer Chris Waller.

While Rip Van Winkle has an exceptional strike rate of 14.6% Group winners to runners with his first crop fillies, overall 17 of his 35 stakes performers to date have been colts or geldings.

The champion son of Galileo stands at Windsor Park Stud, Cambridge where his 2017 service fee has been confirmed at $10,000 + GST.
