Among half a dozen Windsor Park-bred winners last weekend the most significant was exciting 3YO Grand Chancellor (Savabeel), whose success in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas over 1800m further enhanced his prospects for the Gr.1 South Australian Derby next month.
The winner of three races from six starts, Grand Chancellor descends from one of Windsor Park’s most significant foundation families that counts multiple Gr.1 winner Field Dancer (Star Way) and Gr.1 Sydney Cup winner Just A Dancer (Star Way) among its best representatives.
Other recent stakes winners from the family include Nymph Monte, Zara Dancer and Fairy Oak.
Grand Chancellor is out of the smart Montjeu racemare Mont Fay who was successful on four occasions over middle distances from the Melbourne stable of trainer Danny O’Brien.
Mont Fay was the last foal of the exceptional producer Field Nymph (Northfields) who besides being the dam of Gr.1 winners Field Dancer and Just A Dancer also produced Gr.2 winner Blanchard (Kaapstad), the dam of stakes winner Zara Dancer.
