Rip Van Winkle mare Euro Angel(NZ) continued a strong week for Karaka graduates when she won the A$150,000 Group 3 Nick Johnstone Real Estate Ladies' Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield on Wednesday.
Following on from the sensational Ready to Run Sale quinella of Debt Collector (NZ) (Thorn Park) and Well Done (NZ) (Falkirk) in Sunday's Sgp-1 Kranji Mile, Windsor Park Stud Premier Sale graduate Euro Angel stepped up for her first attempt at stakes level in Wednesday's feature event and came out on top.
Under the riding of Dwayne Dunn, the four-year-old emerged on the outside at the top of the home straight and outsprinted her rivals in the last 300 metres to score by an emphatic margin of a length and a half.
"She's a very valuable mare now," co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said.
Euro Angel has now had six starts for three wins, three placings and A$199,435 in stakes for owners P J Duggan, D V Russo, R L Milne, A R McDonald, R S Collins & J Chapman.
She is trained by Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, who purchased her for $200,000 from the draft of Windsor Park Stud at the 2014 Premier Sale.
Euro Angel was bred by Windsor Park, who also bred both of the Singapore heroes Debt Collector and Well Done.
Euro Angel is out of the Polish Precedent mare Polish Princess, who won four races including the Listed Mason Appliances 4YO and was placed in the Group 1 Easter Handicap.
Polish Princess is now the dam of three stakes winners from three foals to race, with Euro Angel joining multiple stakes winner and Group 1 placegetter Leebaz (NZ) (Zabeel) and the Group 2 winner and Australian Derby runner-up Polish Knight (NZ) (Encosta De Lago).
