Rip’s primed for Spring racing

With four winners and a second from five runners at the trials this week the progeny of Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) look ready to impact Spring racing over the coming months.

Included among the winners was promising 4YO galloper Henree Winkler who impressed winning an open trial over 1000m while 3YO’s Rayas and an unnamed filly out of Viennese Waltz also registered eyecatching victories.

Earlier in the month Rip Van Winkle’s Gr.2-winning daughter Capella signalled her readiness for Group One assignments ahead when finishing third in the Open 1040m trial at Te Teko.  

Last weekend another promising daughter of Rip Van Winkle, Nassak trained by James Cummings at Randwick, was successful on debut in NSW while other recent winners for Rip Van Winkle include promising Australian stayer Winston Legacy, Singapore winner Super Hero, unbeaten Chris Waller-trained galloper Awoke and the Danny O’Brien trained colt Awake In Grinzing who is the winner of his only start as a 2YO.

Rip Van Winkle is resident at Windsor Park Stud where he stands for a service fee of $12,500 + GST.
