15 Jun 2016 | By Racenews

The time honoured Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes on yesterday’s opening day at Royal Ascot was won in brilliant fashion by Profitable who provided his sire Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) with a new elite-level winner.

A Champion Sire of 2YO’s, Invincible Spirit’s progeny are noted for training on into highclass racehorses and 4YO Profitable, who had won Gr.3 and Gr.2 races at his previous starts, became Invincible Spirit’s thirteenth individual Group One winner.

Invincible Spirit stands for €120,000 at the Irish National Stud and has sired 96 stakes winners. His leading progeny include World Champion 3YO miler Kingman, boom Australian sire I Am Invincible (sire of champion sprinter Brazen Beau) and his highest earning son Charm Spirit, a triple Group One winning 3YO miler.

Charm Spirit, who won Ascot’s Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes, shuttles to Windsor Park Stud, Cambridge this Spring.

Fully booked in his first season last year, Charm Spirit is out of the Montjeu mare L’Enjoleuse and comes from the family of champion sires Encosta De Lago and Flying Spur.
