Windsor Park-bred Debt Collector (Thorn Park) unleashed an explosive turn of foot to land the $350,000 Group Two Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic at Kranji racecourse at the weekend.
Settled midfield, Debt Collector showed brilliant acceleration in the straight to beat home the best of his age group in the 1400m event and confirm a start in the Group One Singapore Guineas over 1600m on May 15th.
“I’m very pleased with that win’, commented trainer Cliff Brown.
“Debt Collector has always shown ability from day one and the way he finished today did not surprise me. He’ll be a definite starter in the Guineas”.
Also impressed with Debt Collector’s performance was jockey Michael Rodd.
“He has so much untapped potential. He was floating coming into the straight and when I got to the outside part, he wanted to lay in, but he had the best momentum in the end”.
From the penultimate crop of his deceased champion sire Thorn Park, 3YO gelding Debt Collector is out of the stakes placed English racemare Prompt Payment (In The Wings) and was a $30,000 yearling purchase by Michael Wallace Bloodstock from the 2014 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sales draft of Windsor Park Stud.
