Spring Sprint winner Allez Eagle (Guillotine) is likely to step up to 1600 metres in next Saturday's Windsor Park Plate.
Allez Eagle has thrived since his Gr. 3 Spring Sprint win a fortnight ago and is on track for a Group One bid in the Windsor Park Plate at Trentham.
Cambridge trainer Tony Pike told www.theinformant.co.nz today that the Guillotine gelding has done everything right since he impressively downed Recite and Ryan Mark in a tight finish to the $70,000 Hastings sprint feature on October 3.
“I’m really happy with him,” Pike said. “He’ll have a gallop on the course proper at Cambridge tomorrow, and as long as everything looks fine with him after that we’ll push on to the Windsor Park Plate at Trentham a week later.”
Allez Eagle has had eight wins from 16 starts, and he has had one start at the Windsor Park Plate’s 1600-metre distance for a game fourth behind Pondarosa Miss, Vespa and Kawi in the Gr. 1 Easter Handicap at Ellerslie.
The five-year-old also holds a nomination for next month’s Gr. 2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile at Riccarton, for which he is the equal $8 second favourite along with Addictive Habit. Mighty Solomon is the favourite at $6.
