Galileo’s Classic influence confirmed again
25 May 2015 | By Racenews

Legendary sire Galileo enjoyed another weekend of Classic success when Gleneagles became his first son to complete the Gr.1 Anglo-Irish 2000 Guineas double at the Curragh in Ireland on Saturday.

Galileo’s 183 stakes winners includes 46 individual Gr.1 winners, with 20 Classic winners among them and he owns an exceptional strike rate of 11.7% stakes winners to runners ratio.

Galileo extended his Classic influence further at the Curragh the following day through his son Teofilo whose daughter Pleascach had to dig deep to hold off the late challenge of Galileo’s own daughter Found to win the fillies Gr.1 Classic equivalent in the Irish 1000 Guineas.

Galileo’s highest rated son is Classic winner and champion Frankel while his second highest rated son at stud is triple Gr.1 winner Rip Van Winkle who will shuttle to Windsor Park Stud, Cambridge this Spring from Coolmore, Ireland.
