International quality adorns Windsor Park stallion roster
07 May 2015 |

Recently announced triple Gr. 1 winning miler Charm Spirit (Invincible Spirit), who joins the Windsor Park stallion roster for his first southern hemisphere season this year, will stand for a fee of $25,000 at the Cambridge based nursery.

The winner of three successive Gr.1 races at his last three starts, Charm Spirit was also Gr.1 placed as a 2YO and is the highest earning son of boom sire Invincible Spirit. On retirement at the conclusion of his 3YO season Charm Spirit followed only world champion Kingman (Invincible Spirit) in the 3YO mile category (Turf) on the 2014 World Thoroughbred Rankings.

Charm Spirit will stand alongside champion miler and fellow shuttle stallion Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) who returns to Windsor Park where his popularity there has seen him serve in excess of 125 mares on average in each of his preceding four seasons.

Rip Van Winkle has made an excellent start in both hemispheres siring 2YO Group winners with his first crops to race. They include Irish Gr.1 winner and current classic contender Dick Whittington together with this seasons 3YO French stakes winning filly Princess Charm, while his initial southern hemisphere crop includes Gr.3 winner Magic Dancer. Rip Van Winkle will stand his fifth season for a fee of $16,000.

Popular Gr.1 winning Australian sprinter ShamExpress (O’Reilly) commences his second season at Windsor Park this Spring. The Newmarket Handicap winner was well received in his first season at stud last year and now has a wonderful foundation to become a future sire success. The fastest son of his champion sire O’Reilly, ShamExpress will stand for a fee of $12,500 in 2015.

Successful young sires Guillotine (Montjeu) and Falkirk (Tale Of The Cat) complete the Windsor Park stallion lineup with both stallions siring Gr.1 performing stakes winners in the current season. Guillotine’s service fee has been set at $7,000 while Falkirk will be available at a fee of $4,000.

“With the international recognition being accorded to our main markets in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore it is vital we stand stallions of the highest international quality. I think our stallion roster achieves that and at fee levels that provide breeders with an opportunity for maximum commercial return”, said studmaster Rodney Schick.
