Classic glory awaits Invincible colt
01 May 2015 | By Racenews

Connections of exciting 3YO Territories (Invincible Spirit) have supplemented the colt for this weekend’s Gr.1 English 2000 Guineas in preference to the French equivalent the following week.

This sets up a rematch with Gleneagles (Galileo), the Guineas favourite, after the pair met in last season's Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere in which Gleneagles finished first but was demoted to third for causing interference, with Territories promoted into second.

Territories got his three-year-old season off to a fine start with a classy two-length win in the Gr. 3 Prix de Fontainebleau at Longchamp last month.

"Territories has come out of his trial very well and has come on for the run. We will monitor the weather forecast and going conditions closely as he is a horse who prefers genuinely good ground. He is more likely to get his favoured ground conditions at Newmarket than at Longchamp a week later."

Invincible Spirit is also the grandsire of another favoured 2000 Guineas contender Ivawood (Zebedee) while the champion son of Green Desert is represented the following day in the Gr.1 1000 Guineas for fillies by daughters Jellicle Ball and UAE 1000 Guineas and Oaks winner Local Time.

Invincible Spirit’s highest earning son, triple Gr.1 winner Charm Spirit, is a recently announced addition to the Windsor Park Stud, Cambridge, stallion roster where he will stand for a fee of $25,000 + GST in his first season this spring.
